Ann Arbor approves $20 fee for backyard chickens
Associated Press
ANN ARBOR -- In Ann Arbor, $20 will get you a permit to keep chickens in your backyard.
The Ann Arbor News reports that city council approved the fee Thursday. City council in June had voted to end a long-standing poultry ban by letting people keep up to four hens in their backyards.
No roosters are allowed under the ordinance, since they're too noisy. And slaughtering won't be permitted.
The ordinance went into effect Thursday.
My Comment:
Great news for Ann Arbor. Hopefully more cities will follow suit. Eggs are the number one health food. It would be great to eat fresh eggs for little cost.
