Deidre Currie Festival

I remember when I first saw Sally Fallon speak at the Detroit Waldorf school in 2000. I loved the message and I joined the Weston A Price Foundation. I also got involved in my local chapter, Healthy Traditions Network. In 2005, I traveled to Washington DC, to Wise Traditions, the national conference. It was a blast! Great food, great speakers and great people. It was there where I met Deidre Currie for the first time. She was hanging out with Archie Welch. Archie was a fellow member of my local Detroit chapter. Deidre was from Australia. Dee and Archie ended up tying the knot, and Dee moved to Michigan.

Last year, Dee organized an amazing Weston A Price conference right in Michigan. I saw first hand how much drive and passion that Dee had for getting this information out there. (I setup the website for the conference). It was exciting to see how her efforts changed many people's lives at the conference. In fact, my son went on an anti-GMO crusade after reading a book that we picked up from the conference. Watch the video here.

Then on January 8th, 2008, Deidre Currie was rushed to the hospital due to a medical emergency. She was pregnant with her first child. What should have been the happiest day of her life, turned tragic. Dee passed away. Despite being six weeks premature, the baby was as healthy as a full term baby, due to Dee's dedication to a healthy lifestyle.

Archie, in honor of Dee, organized the Deidre Currie Festival. All proceeds from this event will go into a fund setup for Dee's son, Jack Currie-Welch. It's going to be an amazing event.
