The number of measles cases in the U.S. is at its highest level since 1997, and nearly half of those involve children whose parents rejected vaccination, government health officials reported.
Worried doctors are troubled by the trend fueled by unfounded fears that vaccines may cause autism. The number of cases is still small, just 131, but that’s only for the first seven months of the year. There were only 42 cases for all of last year.

My Comment:
So, let me get this straight. Half of the people who got measels were vaccinated. Maybe we should be sounding the alarms over the fact that vaccinations do not equal immunizations. Buried in the article is the fact:
None of the 131 patients died, but 15 were hospitalized.
Fast forward 30 years. I can see the headline:
"5,000 Got a Cold Due to Lack of Vaccination, 1 Died"
Of course nobody likes to get sick, or catch a disease. But, if strive to maintain a healthy lifestyle, we are likely to be able to fight off sickness and diseases without dying. If you are very poor health and do not follow a healthy lifestyle, you could succumb to even the common cold.
PS - I'm sure will see a flury of stories like this one in the coming years. Thanks to Jenny McCarthy and her book Louder Than Words the media is paying attention to the vaccination / autism debate.

The news articles around the Measles *outbreak* are getting a little out of control, huh?
I agree that nobody likes to get sick (I don't like it either lol), but these are called childhood illnesses for a reason. Because we get them as children and it strengthens our immune systems.
Isn't it funny... the more effort (and "science and technology") that we use to "avoid" sickness, the sicker our nation gets.
