Toxic Chemicals Found in Laundry Products, Air Fresheners

A study of top-selling laundry products and air fresheners found the products emitted dozens of different chemicals. Nearly 100 volatile organic compounds were emitted from the six products, and none were listed on any product label, she said. Plus, five of the six products emitted one or more carcinogenic "hazardous air pollutants," which are considered by the Environmental Protection Agency to have no safe exposure level, Steinemann said.

My Comment:

Everyone, especially children, should be spared the additional toxic load from laundry products and from air fresheners. Instead of toxic chemicals, you could use natural products that contain essential oils. Or, if you don't want to try to mask odors, you can use Zeolite. Zeolite is a natural rock that absorbs odors and absorbs toxic off-gassing (new carpets, cabinets, etc).

Soy Lowers Sperm Count

A regular diet of even modest amounts of food containing soy may halve sperm concentrations. The study found 41 million fewer sperm per millilitre of semen after just one portion every two days. The authors said plant estrogen's in foods such as tofu or soy milk may interfere with hormonal signals.

My Comment:

If a grown man is adversely affected by a moderate amount of soy, what happens when an infant's entire diet consists of soy formula?

According to the Weston A. Price Foundation:
"Babies on soy formula were found to have levels of serum estrogens at 13,000 -22,000 times greater than those in infants who had been breast fed or given milk-based formula."

My Comment:

This reminds me of Pottenger's Cats. Between the years of 1932 and 1942, Dr. Francis Marion Pottenger, Jr. conducted a feeding experiment to determine the effects of heat-processed food on cats.

"Pottenger's findings must be seen in the context of the Price research and can be interpreted as follows: When the human diet produces "facial deformities"—the progressive narrowing of the face and crowding of the teeth—extinction will occur if that diet is followed for several generations. The implications for western civilization-obsessed as it is with refined, highly sweetened convenience foods and low-fat items—is profound."
